New Book Club Addition: Bohemian Manifesto

New book club entry!  I've had this book for awhile and just haven't had the time to read it, but I thought it would be perfect for my blog, hence the subject.  People often ask me why I've named my blog Bohemian Kate...   Well, I did it for a couple of reasons.  I've always had an interest in the bohemian lifestyle.  I don't like to be confined to rules and consider myself a free spirit.  I'm an artist at heart and the older I get, the more I realize that doing what I love and not being stuck in the rat race is what I want out of life.  Bohemian to me, is the freedom to do what you want to do and not what someone else or society wants you to do.  

I'm really curious to see what the author says in this "Bohemian Manifesto" regarding what a bohemian is...I think it will be a fun book to read!

Book Club: "The Help" Recap

So I just got back from vacation in Tahoe yesterday which is why I've been m.i.a the last couple of days.  It was so nice to relax, be in nature and have time to read!  I've been trying to get through "The Help" for the last couple of months, but being so busy I've barely had a chance to pick it up. Luckily, I had ample time in Tahoe to finish it!

Just to recap, "The Help" is about Jackson, Mississippi in the early '60s during the beginning of the civil rights movement.  The story is mainly about three women who literally rewrite history in the south.  I don't want to give too much away because it's a really surprising and touching story.  This is a quick read, the characters are very interesting and it's actually based on some of the author's own experiences even though it's fiction.  I highly recommend it and I'm looking forward to seeing the movie.  I just hope it's as good as the book!

New Book Club Read "The Help"

So I know I'm a little behind on the bestsellers, but I'm hoping there are some peeps out there along with me who haven't read "The Help" yet.  I've heard nothing but good things about this book and I'm eager to dive into it.  If you haven't read it yet, this is the new pick for the book club.  Check it out and let me know what you think :)
