I'm so ready for 2013 I can't even tell you. 2012 was awesome in so many ways; getting married, working my dream job, traveling, amazing opportunities...but always after the holidays I'm eager for a blank canvas of time to collect my thoughts and get down to business. I know I've been pretty m.i.a. the last month or so. As much as I love the holidays, it sometimes sucks whatever creative juices I have and disperses them between work, traveling, family, shopping, cooking, parties...you get the idea. I'm sure many of you are in the same boat.
That's why I always love the New Year. When there's nothing going on, right? Just time...
Alright, I haven't written any goals for 2013 yet, but they're coming. Since I'm the queen of writing pretty much everything down (goals, to do lists, random thoughts) I will surely be carving out some time in the next day or so to scribble down some very lofty goals. And while I want to shout them out to the world, I'm hesitant to put them on here. Mainly because I don't want to make promises I can't keep. I intended to have some projects done this past fall which of course, I didn't. I don't know what I was thinking, fall is always a crazy time of the year. Not ideal for starting and completing new undertakings. Anyway, I felt bad for not finishing a couple of them when I said I would (I did get the newsletter started though which I'm stoked about).
So instead of promising dates (I'll just keep those to myself, thank you very much) I'll share with you some ideas and aspirations I have for the New Year. The bulk of this blog has always been about natural skincare and healthy recipes. I will be getting back to that now that I have more time. I'm also getting a new camera lens soon (don't know exactly which one yet). I've been using the kit lens from my Canon Rebel which I have been less than happy with lately (a major reason why I haven't been doing a lot of project posts). I know I will be recharged once I see some pretty pictures coming from my camera again. Not gonna lie, I've been in a funk with photography. But I am so ready to get back to it.
Another major goal that sorta got accomplished this past weekend was cleaning out our condo and making it look presentable again. We have been knee deep in stuff that needs to get organized and placed in it's proper spots, not just scattered around the house. Well we finally got our living room in order. Cannot tell how much this helps my piece of mind and creativity. We still have a lot more to do, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I still really want to write an ebook on natural skincare and exactly what I do for my regimen. I get emails about this frequently and it's not something that I can just write a post on because there's just too much information (I want to do something that's easy to follow and practical). Anyway, I was hoping to have it done in January, but that is not happening. I will say that it's a huge goal of mine for the 2013 and that it will be available in the near future.
Painting. I'm back into it and I'm loving it. Mainly because I'm just painting whatever the heck I want with no rhyme or reason. I'm not planning out the paintings. I'm just putting the brush to the canvas and seeing what happens. Very enjoyable. My goal for the fall was to have an Etsy store of my paintings. That still might very well happen, but for right now, I'm painting some for our condo and after those are done, we'll see what happens. I will still be sharing them with periodically as I have been doing the last couple months.
So yeah...the photo above I took over the weekend at Solana Beach. It was pretty rainy and the clouds looked gorgeous over the ocean. This photo is not particularly interesting per se, but it's peaceful. A good way to start off the new year in my mind.
Wishing you a charming 2013 ;)
xoxo...Kate
