I've been running into some disturbing news lately regarding canned food. Did you know that most canned food contains BPA (Bisphenol A) in the rim of the can? I just found out about it last year and I keep hearing about it. In case you don't know what BPA is, it's an industrial chemical that has been linked to disrupting hormones and causing breast cancer among other things. BPA can be found in water bottles, canned food and even baby bottles. Canada has declared it a toxic substance and both the European Union and Canada have banned it in baby bottles. Unfortunately, it's still very heavily used here in the U.S.
The F.D.A. still has not declared it toxic, however this is what they say:
