DIY Skeleton Key Bookmark

I love old antique skeleton keys.  I had this one laying around and some extra lace fabric so I decided to make a bookmark out of it.  This is for sure the easiest diy project I've ever done and I think it's so cute.  Plus I love how it looks with this old art book from the 1800s my aunt gave me.  It makes reading even more fun when you have a pretty little bookmark to save your place.  All you need is a long thin piece of fabric and an old key.  You can usually find skeleton keys at antique stores or even swamp meets. As far as the fabric, use any kind you like.  I really like diy projects where I'm using things I have around the house, sort of like recycling.

I'm currently using the bookmark for my book of the month, The Glass Castle, which by the way has turned out to be a great book.  I just have one more chapter to go!  It's a really amazing and true story of how the author grew up and her eccentric family.  The things she had to go through makes me thankful for what I have.  Even though the book can be sad at times, the author, Jeannette Walls, has a great way for finding humor in situations.  I highly recommend this book.

Sunday Tea Time

Now that I'm done with school, Sundays are about lounging around the house and relaxing.  Since I had a very long night last night (went to go see the amazing jazz fusion band, Volto), I thought a casual tea time would be the perfect pick me up.  And I love drinking tea out of my tea set I got from Anthropologie a few years back.

I usually like drinking tea instead of water, especially green tea.  Usually I just buy a box of green tea from Trader Joes and use one tea bag for a pot.  I would love to start using loose leaf tea and making my own combinations.  I find that tea really hydrates me, so it's perfect for a day like today, where I'm feeling a little dehydrated after getting home so late last night.

Hopefully soon, I can plan a tea party with my girlfriends... in the meantime I'm looking forward to relaxing on the couch today, tea in hand and watching a scary moving tonight.  Hope everyone is having a fun Halloween weekend!

Favorites From My Vinyl Collection Part 2

I'm so glad my fiance decided to start this record collection a couple years back.  He received a record player and a bunch of vinyls from his grandfather and we've been collecting ever since.  I love putting on an album and listening to it the whole way through without trying to skip through songs.  It's so relaxing!  Reminds me of the old days and my parent's huge record collection.

So here are some more of my favorites.  I can't seem to have a list like this without including The Beatles.  I love Magical Mystery Tour.  It's such a fun album and it makes me super happy every time I hear it.

Talk about listening to a whole record all the way through, the way it should be listened too...Dark Side of the Moon will always be one of my favorites.  If you haven't heard this record before...um, you need to get on it!  It's classic and trippy....

I kind of want to call Joe Cocker the king of cover because he's just so damn good at them.  I consider Joe Cocker's version of With A Little Help From My Friends, better than the Beatles original.  And I love the song Woman to Woman who's hook you might recognize from Dr. Dre's California.

The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys by Traffic is another great classic rock album.  It's super mellow, perfect for a rainy day of sitting around listening to vinyls.  I love every song on this album.

Let's Dance by David Bowie, I remember my parents having this album when I was a kid in the early 80s.  Most of you probably would recognize the songs Let's Dance, Modern Love and China Girl.  Totally 80s, very fun and I will always love it.
