I love the smell of cocoa butter, it's one of my favorites. I used to buy cocoa body butter from The Body Shop all the time, but now that I know how simple it is to my make my own, never again! It smells exactly the same! So, are you ready to make your own?
Ingredients:
- Cocoa butter wafers
- Beeswax
- Olive Oil
Directions:
- Heat 2 parts cocoa butter to 1 part beeswax in a stainless steel bowl placed above a pot of simmering water. I kept the heat on low so the mixture wouldn't burn.
- After the cocoa butter and the beeswax has melted into a liquid, take it off the heat, add a dash of extra virgin olive oil and immediately start whipping it with an electric mixer or you can do it the old fashion way with a hand whisk like I did.
- After it's been whipped into a cream, take a spatula and put it into a sterilized jar (you can sterilize the jar by just letting it sit in boiling water for about three minutes).
How simple is that? And it's sooo luxurious, I love it. Enjoy...
...xoxo, Kate.
Update: The body butter tends to harden over time :( I'm going to experiment more and hopefully find a way to keep it soft and still completely natural.
