I love the 60s so much! I so wish I had been alive during that decade so I could witness the music, the fashion and the energy. But instead, I live vicariously through photos. For this week's style edition, I'm focusing on my favorite style icons from the decade. These women definitely have influenced my fashion choices over the years and will always inspire me!
My number one pick is Natalie Wood. She is my favorite actress from that era. Ever since I saw West Side Story when I was a kid, I wanted to be like Natalie. I could also identify with her because she is a petite brunette like me! I love how her style evolved from the early 60s bob (like in the top photo) to the late 60s hippie look above.
Peggie Lipton from the Mod Squad always reminded me of the quintessential 60s California girl (even though I don't even think she was from California). I love her long blond hair, I wish I could grow my hair that long. She just seems so cool and mellow.
Raquel Welch is the ultimate 60s bombshell to me. She always has the most amazing hair in all her photos from back then. I love her outfit in the first photo, so inspiring for fall fashion right now!
Janis! Not only did Janis Joplin create amazing rock and blues that will last as long as time, but her fashion sense has so inspired style throughout the years. That hipster/hippie look that we see at Coachella every year? We can thank Janis for that. How beautiful is that top photo of her?
Anita Pallenberg (on the right) is the epitome of 60s fashion. She was involved with Keith Richards and Brian Jones, both from the Rolling Stones so she lived a very rock and roll lifestyle. I absolutely love her sense of style.
There you have it! Some of my favorites from that decade. I know I left out some quintessential names, but stay tuned for part 2!
